It has been a crazy week for folks across the country celebrating National Kite Month, but things aren’t over just yet, there is still two more weeks to go!  Here is a listing of some of the events coming up in the next week.

April 23rd – Earth Day Festival, Macomb, Illinois – Every year for the past 10 years I’ve set up a booth at Western Illinois University Campus Greens’ “Earth Day Festival.”
I tether some fun kites to bamboo poles and kids take turns “flying” them in the park space. www.skyclimbers.org

April 23rd – Kite Tales, National Museum of the US Air Force, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. Celebrate spring through fun demos and hands-on activities. Watch fascinating demonstrations of the incredible art of indoor kite flying and build and fly your own kite! Free admission! April 23rd – Medina Earth Day Festival, Seville, OH Medina Earth Day Festival 8708 Hubbard Valley Rd. Seville, Ohio (FD,CKW) 10:00am04:00pm Medina County’s 20th Annual Earth  Day Festival Buffalo Creek Retreat Come celebrate Earth Day at Medina County Park District’s Buffalo Creek Retreat just south of Hubbard Valley Park. There will be earth friendly exhibits, a family fishing derby, kids’ activities, food, and much more, so bring the whole family for a fun filled day. Additional parking for this event will be at Hubbard Valley Park with shuttle service provided to Buffalo Creek. All ages welcome. No registration required. Free. http://www.osekcleveland.org/

April 23rd – Spring Fun Fly, Glen Rock, PA – This is an all day fun fly on a scenic hill surrounded by open fields. The event will be highly visible from I-83. http://www.marketsatshrewsbury.com/

April 23rd –  Spartanburg Soaring International Kite Festival, Spartanburg SC – Fun fly with kite making, kites for sale, exhibits, rok battle, kite flying, competition for kids, food vendors. We expect 3000-5000 with good weather. https://www.facebook.com/events/175761052780111/

April 23rd – Dixie Power Kite Festival, St George, UT. The Dixie Power Kite Festival aims to promote reading as a habit and encourage students to engage in family-oriented physical activity. On the day of the event, qualifying students earn a high-quality kite or book for their reading efforts. Entrance to the festival is free. http://www.dixiepowerkitefestival.com/

April 23rd – Kites over Enid Festival, Enid, OK. We will be flying on the Richard Dermer Memorial Flying Field South of Autry Tech Center.

April 23rd-24th Morro Bay Kite Festival – Morro Bay, CA – This is a two day event with demos all day long also a candy drop for kids.Food and other vendors will be on site. Also Saturday CCFC Central Coast Funds For Children will give the 1st 500 kids a free kite to decorate and fly. www.morrobaykitefestival.org

April 24th – Tybee Island, GA. Support Parkinson’s and other movement disorders awareness by flying a kite at the Kite Flying Festival on North Beach http://visittybee.com/events/event/kite-flying-festival/

April 24th – Fonthill Castle, Doylestown, PA. Join the fun on the grounds of Fonthill! Learn to build and decorate kites and then fly your kite at Fonthill Park. Meet “The Kiteman” Clifford Quinn as he shares his passion for kites with presentations at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.  Admission to the event is $5 per family.  Bring your own kite to fly or purchase one to make for $5/kite (quantities limited, reservations suggested). April 24th – Art on a String: Asian Kites in Flight (CT) The Stamford Museum is hosting a kite exhibition called “Art on a String: Asian Kites in Flight” April 1 – May 30, 2016. We are co-hosting a kite flying festival at Mill River Park in Stamford, CT, on Sunday April 24, 2016, (http://www.millriverpark.org/) and we are planning a kite-making workshop here at the museum with Wayne Hosking on Memorial Day Weekend (specifics TBD)

April 25th – Kites in Flight, Wisconsin Rapids, WI South Wood County Recreation Center – Kite demonstrations.
